Warning. Do not replace pads on only one wheel, this can lead to uneven braking. Keep in mind that gasket wear dust can contain asbestos that is harmful to health. A mask must be worn when working on the brake. DO NOT use gasoline-based solvents to clean brake parts - use only a special tool.
Engage the handbrake, then raise the front of the vehicle and jack it up under the drive axle.
Where required, remove the lining wear sensor and disconnect the wire from the plug connector located under the wheel arch near the suspension strut. Note the location of the wires.
Using a screwdriver, remove the fixing clip of the lining from the outer edge of the bracket, noting its location.
Remove the two dust caps from the inner edge of the bracket, then use a socket wrench to remove the bolts and remove the bracket and inner trim. Remove the outer brake lining. Hang the bracket so as not to deform the brake fluid supply hose.
Detach the inner lining from the disc brake caliper piston, bearing in mind that it is clipped onto the brake caliper (pic. 9.6). Remove dirt and dust from the bracket with a brush, being careful not to inhale the swept dust. Thoroughly clean the edges of the brake disc from rust.
To install new thicker linings, press the caliper piston using a flat metal bar and push it into the hole like this. so that he enters into it completely. Pressing in the piston will raise the level of brake fluid in the reservoir, so be prepared for splashing out. To avoid this, pump out some of the liquid, for example, with a rubber bulb.
Make sure that the cuts in the piston are vertical. If necessary, carefully rotate the piston to the appropriate position.
Apply some grease to the contact surfaces of the new brake pads.
Install the new inner pad on the caliper piston, making sure the clip is correctly positioned.
Position the outer bezel on the bracket bracket with the working side facing the blade.
Install the bracket on the bracket and tighten the bolts.
Install dust caps.
Install the trim clip, positioning it as it was before removal.
Where required, install a new lining wear indicator and connect the wire to the connector located under the wheel arch. Arrange the wires as before.
Repeat operations on other wheels.
Install the wheels and lower the vehicle to the ground.
Depress the brake pedal several times to press the pads against the discs.
Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary.
New linings must be carefully run in, so sudden braking should be avoided during the first 160 km after installation.
