Set the front wheels of the car straight ahead.
In the driver's footwell, remove the clips and lower trim panel.
Loosen and remove the two clamping bolts securing the flexible coupling to the steering wheel shaft and steering gear shaft.
Remove the bolts securing the steering gear to the bulkhead of the engine compartment, then move the steering gear away from the bulkhead so that you can disconnect the clutch from the steering gear.
Remove the clutch from the steering wheel shaft, noticing how it is installed.
Check that the steering wheel and front wheels are straight ahead.
Connect the clutch to the steering gear shaft and tighten the lock bolt.
Install the steering gear in place on the bulkhead and check that the steering wheel shaft engages with the clutch, then tighten the steering gear mounting bolts as required.
Pull up the steering wheel shaft until it engages with the bearing stopper, then tighten the flexible coupling upper clamping bolt.
Check the steering wheel centering as indicated earlier in the appropriate section.
