General information about carburetor engines

The fuel supply system of carburetor engines includes a fuel tank, a fuel pump, a vapor trap (on all models), downdraft carburetor and thermostatically controlled air cleaner.

The diaphragm-type fuel pump is driven by a pusher, from the camshaft cam.

The vapor trap is used to stabilize the fuel supply to the carburetor.

The air cleaner has an air intake with a vacuum regulator that supplies a mixture of hot and cold air that meets the basic requirements of the engine.

Caution: Some fuel system controls are protected by special caps, plugs, or gaskets. In some countries, driving with damaged caps is against the rules.
