System type
carbureted engine (14NV) — High energy (HEI) and inductive-discharge ignition system from Bosch
Engines with single point fuel injection, displacement 1.4 and 1.6 liters (C14NZ and C16NZ) - Multi-Spain Timing System (MSTS) with ignition distributor based on "hall effect"
Multiport fuel injection engine, 1.4L displacement (C14SE) - MSTS system with position / speed and crankshaft rotation sensor
Engine with multipoint fuel injection, displacement 1.6 L (C16SE) - MSTS system with DIS direct ignition system and crankshaft position / speed sensor
Engine (C18NZ), displacement 1.8 l - MSTS system with crankshaft position / speed sensor
Engine with one camshaft, displacement 2.0 l (C20NE) - Motronic M1.5.2 system with crankshaft position / speed sensor
Engine with two camshafts (C20XE) - Motronic M2.5 system with an ignition distributor based on "hall effect" and speed/crankshaft position sensor
The order of operation of the cylinders - 1-3-4-2
The location of the cylinder N 1 - Near the timing belt in the engine
Distributor
Lever Rotation Direction - Clockwise (cover side view)
Ignition timing adjustment
(stroboscopic, at idle, vacuum hose disconnected):
- carbureted engine (14NV) — 5°to TDC
Fuel injected engines*:
- All except 2.0L engine - 10°BTDC
- C20NE engine (one camshaft) - 13-17°to TDC
- C20XE engine (two camshafts) - 14-18°to TDC
* With electronic control unit, not subject to adjustment
Tightening with a torque wrench spark plugs - 25 Nm
