General information
This chapter describes the checks and adjustments necessary to maintain the vehicle's performance, economy, driving safety and durability.
Intensive service
If the maintenance procedure has not been followed for a long time, then the checks and adjustments described below should be carried out more often, or as needed. The greatest amount of adjustment and adjustment work is usually performed on the engine. This is especially true of a used car engine that has not been subjected to regular or timely checks. In such cases, in addition to periodic maintenance, it is necessary to carry out additional adjustment work. If there are suspicions of engine wear, then it is necessary to check the compression in the cylinders and obtain valuable information regarding the condition of all the main parts of the engine's internal structure. Based on this information, you can get an idea of the scope and degree of complexity of the upcoming work. If, for example, the compression is such that it clearly indicates severe engine wear, then routine maintenance will not restore normal performance and an overhaul with complete disassembly should be performed. The following is a list of work that is most often required to improve persistent abnormal engine operation.
Clean, inspect and test the battery.
Check the condition and level of all fluids in the engine.
Check the condition and tension of all belts.
Replace spark plugs.
Check the condition of the air filter.
Replace fuel filter.
Check the condition of all hoses.
If the above measures do not work, then do the following.
Check the battery charging system.
Check fuel system and ignition system.
Resetting the service reminder indicator
1. All Astra and Zafira models are equipped with an LCD display indicating the need for the next vehicle service (SID display). The display is mounted at the bottom of the speedometer. If weekly maintenance is required, INSP appears on the display. After performing maintenance, the display must be reinstalled.
2. Turn off the ignition. Press and hold the trip mileage reset button.
3. Turn on the ignition and continue to hold the reset button for 3 seconds.
4. When the text disappears, release the button.
