Engines 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters
1. Remove the oil pump and flywheel (driving disk).
2. Remove connecting rods with pistons.
3. Check the end play of the crankshaft (see below), then do the following.
4. Main bearing caps must be numbered 1 to 5 starting with the front cap (see photo). If there are no numbers, then paint, or mark, marks that correspond to the serial number of the cover (the numerals should be in the same position and ensure that the correct orientation of the cover is determined during assembly).
6. Loosen the main bearing cap bolts in a diagonal sequence 1/2 turn per step. Take out the bolts. Remove covers (main bearing shells must be in place).
7. Carefully remove the crankshaft, while the displacement of the upper shells of the main bearings is not allowed (see photo).
8. Get from the block of cylinders the top radical loose leaves. Tape each insert to the corresponding lid.
2.0L engines
9. Remove the oil pump, flywheel (driving disk) and oil deflector (installed only on those engines in which the balancing mechanism is missing).
10. Uniformly and gradually unscrew the bolts and remove the balancing mechanism (or main bearing cap frame).
11. The further procedure for removing the crankshaft is no different from that discussed above for engines of 1.4-1.8 liters.
