Purpose
This manual is designed to help the car owner to fully discover and master the capabilities of his car, as well as to avoid dependence on service stations for most routine maintenance and minor repairs. Quite a lot of attention in the Guide is given to the diagnosis of malfunctions of vehicle components and systems (in case of their refusal), as well as recommendations and practical tips to eliminate their causes. The Manual includes a description of the procedures for the mandatory routine maintenance of the car and a schedule for their implementation. The data collected and presented in the Manual allows the owner of the vehicle to decide what maintenance work should be carried out and when, and whether it makes sense to try to do it yourself, or you should contact the representative office of the manufacturer or a car service workshop.
This book will be of interest to employees of non-specialized service stations who have to deal with the maintenance and repair of the models described in the Manual. The main attention is paid to the current and average repair of cars based on the replacement of failed components, assemblies and replaceable elements of systems.
Rules for using the Guide
The guide is divided into chapters. Each chapter is divided into numbered sections. Sections, in turn, are divided into subsections and, where required, into sub-subsections and consist of paragraphs (also consecutively numbered).
The text offered to the attention of readers is accompanied by explanatory illustrations. Each illustration is numbered according to the number of the paragraph, the material of which it is intended to supplement. For example, illustration 4.6 explains the material in paragraph 6 of Section 4 of the current chapter. The only exceptions are the illustrations included in Section «Introduction * and numbered through order. The description of the procedures once mentioned in the text is usually not repeated a second time. Instead, if necessary, reference is made to the relevant section (subsection, etc.) corresponding chapter, where this procedure has already been met. References made without mentioning the chapter number refer to the relevant sections/paragraphs of the current chapter. For example, link «see Section 8» means that it is necessary to refer to the materials of Section 8 of the Chapter where this reference occurs.
References to the position of an assembly or component on the left or right of the vehicle are based on the assumption that the reader is in the driver's seat, facing forward.
The descriptions in this manual are presented in a simple and understandable way. If you strictly follow the recommendations given in the text and in the accompanying illustrations, there should not be any particular difficulties in performing the assigned tasks. Due attention should be paid to compliance with the technical parameters and requirements for tightening torques of threaded connections, summarized in the sections of the Specifications and placed at the beginning of each chapter. Specifications should be followed in all work. Within the individual sections, the necessary dimensions and values for adjustment are not always given.
Simple operations such as «open the hood» or «loosen wheel nuts» taken for granted and also not always mentioned.
On the contrary, the text describes in detail the most complex and requiring increased accuracy when performing the procedure.
