Replacing the outside handle and front door lock switch

Replacing the outside handle and left door lock switch is shown. The handle and switch of the right door are replaced in the same way.

You will need: TORX T20 wrench, flat blade screwdriver.



1. Raise the glass to its highest position and remove the front door trim (see Removal and installation of an upholstery of a forward door).



2. Peel off the waterproof film from the inner door panel.



3. Pry off the edge of the hole plug in the rear end of the door with a screwdriver..




4.... and remove the plug.

Note. Under the plug there is a screw that secures the door lock switch.

5. Turn out the screw of fastening of the switch of the lock …



6.... and remove the switch.




7. Press forward with a suitable rod the latch on the back of the outer handle..



8. …remove the back of the handle from its slot in the base of the handle…



9.... slide the handle back, disengaging the front latch from the base of the handle..



10.... and remove it by disengaging its leash from the handle base lever.


11. If you need to remove the base of the outer handle, first remove the door lock (see Replacing the front door lock).

Note. It is necessary to remove the door lock because the lock and its casing do not allow the handle base to be removed from the door cavity.

12. Loosen the screw securing the handle base to the door panel a few turns (do not remove the screw completely).



13. Move the base of the handle forward so that the screw of its fastening is aligned with the expanded part of the groove in the door..



14.... and remove the base of the outer handle from the door cavity.




15. Install the outside handle base..

17.... front door lock switch and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
