A condition check is carried out every year.
The condition of the windshield wiper assemblies should be checked regularly in accordance with the vehicle's routine maintenance schedule (see Section Schedule of ongoing maintenance). Brushes are inspected for mechanical damage, signs of loosening of components and wear of rubber working elements.
Over time, a road film accumulates on the working surfaces of the brushes, which leads to a noticeable decrease in the efficiency of the windshield wipers. Clean the brushes regularly with a medium strength cleaning solution.
During the operation of the wipers, a gradual spontaneous release of fasteners may occur, the reliability of fit and tightening of which should also be checked regularly.
If cracks or signs of wear of the rubber working elements are detected, the brushes are replaced.
1. Move the wiper arm away from the glass.
2. Press the locking tab inward and carefully remove the brush from the hook at the end of the arm.
To remove the brush from the lever, it is necessary to press the locking tab, then release the frame from the hook
3. If it is necessary to replace the wiper element, firmly squeeze the locking tabs at the end of the brush, then grab the element and pull it out of the metal frame.
To remove the work item from the metal frame, squeeze the side locking tabs
4. Remove the metal holders from the rubber working element and insert them into the grooves of the new element.
Before installation in the grooves of the working element, metal holders are inserted into the brushes
5. Insert the element into the frame, making sure that the locking tabs are secure.
6. Put the brush on the wiper arm and tuck it into the hook, making sure that the locking tab snaps into place.
