Disconnecting the battery in position «R» selector lever will lock the latter. To release the lever, carefully remove the sealing element installed around its base from the center console, then use a small flat-bladed screwdriver to press the locking tab to the left of the selector lever.
Removing the selector lever lock
1. Move the selector lever in the passenger compartment from the extreme forward position to the extreme rear position, and make sure that the alternately selected positions correspond to the indicator readings - if necessary, the required adjustment.
2. Set the lever to the position «P».
3. In order to provide access to the gear selection cable, remove the battery from the installation tray (see chapter Engine Electrical Systems).
4. Find the support bracket for fastening the gear selection cable on top of the transmission housing, release the tip of the latter from it, carefully pulling out the retainer.
To release the tip of the cable, move the latch
5. Make sure the selector lever is in the «R», then turn the actuating lever on the transmission housing forward as far as it will go, thus switching the AT to the position «R» After snapping the lock, fix the gear selector cable in this position.
To translate AT into position «R» turn the actuating lever (1) on the transmission all the way forward
6. Install and connect the battery, then check the correct operation of the selector - if necessary, repeat the adjustment.
