Attention: For the operations of removing/installing the rear brake calipers/guides, all the notes and instructions given in Section 7.
Corsa models from August 2003
Removing
1. Support the front wheels with wheel chocks, remove both rear wheels and support the rear of the vehicle on jack stands.
2. Remove the brake hose (see Section 4) and immediately attach it to the new caliper.
Note: If the caliper is removed only to remove the brake pads or brake disc, the hose should not be disconnected. In this case, tie the caliper with wire to the body so that the hose is not twisted or stretched.
3. Release the parking brake lever, remove the parking brake cable retainer (see resist. illustration).
8.3. locking bracket (3) and tip (2) parking brake cable
4. Press the actuating lever on the rear brake caliper, disconnect from it the tip of the parking brake cable (see illustration 8.3) and release the cable from the holder.
5. Turn out bolts of fastening of directing fingers of a support (see resist. illustration), holding the bolts from turning by the hex part with a second wrench. Remove the caliper from the guide.
8.5. bolts (4) caliper guide pins (5) - the arrows indicate the hexagons of the bolts
6. Remove the brake pads with sliding plates from the guide pads, mark their installation position (see resist. illustration). Remove the 2 brake shoe guide mounting bolts - follow the instructions given in Section 7. Remove the guide.
8.6. bolts (5) fixing the rear wheel brake guide: 3. Brake pads; 4. Sliding plates
Installation
7. Before installation, clean the threads of all bolts from the remnants of the compound and lubricate it with fresh compound (e.g. Loctite Tour 243).
8. Install the brake shoe guide and tighten the mounting bolts. A lot of force is required to tighten the rail mounting bolts (65 Nm!), - check the reliability of fastening the car in the suspended position. It is recommended to replace the wheels and lower the vehicle.
9. Depress the brake piston using a special tool (see Section 6) and reinstall the brake pads.
10. Insert the upper guide pin of the caliper into the holder, lower the caliper down and screw in the bolt of the lower guide pin.
11. If the brake hose was disconnected, do not forget to replace the sealing washers and remove air from the brake path (see Section 3), the hose must not be kinked or kinked.
Note: It is enough to pump only the circuit whose caliper was removed. Check the fluid level in the GTZ reservoir, correct if necessary.
12. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Before starting the operation of the vehicle, check the proper functioning of the brake system.
Corsa models since September 2003 and Meriva models
13. On these models, the removal / installation of calipers and rear brake guides is carried out in exactly the same way as described above. The difference lies in the appearance and a slightly different design of some parts (see resist. illustration), as well as in the tightening force of some fasteners (see specs).
8.13. Fastening of a support of the back brake mechanism (Corsa models from 09/2003 and Meriva models): 1. Guide pin mounting bolts; 2. Hexagonal part; 3. Locking plate; 4. Brake hose hollow bolt
