Note: To maintain vehicle stability and handling characteristics, rear shock absorbers should be replaced in pairs. Different types of shock absorbers are designed for different models - only shock absorbers with the appropriate specifications should be used.
Attention: The design of the rear suspension beam allows you to remove and install the shock absorbers only one by one, if you try to remove the shock absorbers at the same time, the rear suspension will fall!
Corsa C models
1. Open the tailgate and remove the protective cap of the upper damper mounting nut.
2. Loosen the top shock absorber mounting nut (see resist. illustration), while holding the shock absorber rod from turning with an open-end wrench.
8.2. Top nut (1) shock absorber mounts (Corsa C models): 2. Washer; 3. Damper
3. Remove damper washer from stem (see illustration 8.2), note the installation order of the parts.
4. Support the front wheels with wheel chocks, jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on stands.
5. Turn out the bottom bolt of fastening of the shock-absorber to the trailing arm of a back suspension bracket (see resist. illustration), remove the shock absorber and pull it downwards out of the wheel arch.
8.5. bottom bolt (4) shock absorber mounts (5) (Corsa C models)
6. Assess damper wear and damper ride smoothness (see also Section 3), if necessary, replace both shock absorbers.
7. Installation is made in an order, the return to an order of removal. Make sure all fasteners are tightened to the correct torque (see specs).
8. Similarly replace the second shock-absorber.
Corsa Combo and Meriva models
9. Support the front wheels with wheel chocks, jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on stands. Remove rear wheels.
10. Support the corresponding trailing arm with a trolley jack and raise it slightly. Remove the top and bottom mounting bolts (see resist. illustration), remove the shock absorber and remove it from the rear wheel well.
8.10. bolts (1) rear shock mounts (2) (Corsa Combo and Meriva models): 3. Jack
11. Check the health of the shock absorber (see also Section 3), replace if necessary.
12. Reinstall shock absorber and hand-tighten both mounting bolts. Then tighten with the required force, first the upper shock absorber mounting bolt, and then the lower one.
13. Similarly replace the second shock-absorber.
