1. Park the vehicle on a level, hard paved area and apply the parking brake firmly. If the engine is cold, start it and warm it up at idle.
2. With the engine running, depress the foot brake pedal and move the AT selector lever through all positions one by one, finally returning it to the «R». Stop the engine and raise the car on a lift.
3. Remove the AT drain plug and drain some liquid into a prepared container. Pour the liquid into a glass beaker, and check it for color, impurities and the presence of a burning smell.
4. If the liquid is red, without turbidity and does not contain any particles, continue checking the condition of the transmission using special instruments and testers according to the instructions for their use.
5. If the working fluid has changed color to brown or black, has become cloudy or has a burning smell, the compilers of this Manual recommend disassembling the transmission to check the condition of the clutch and brakes. Work should be entrusted to service station specialists.
6. If there is a large amount of metal particles in the liquid, it is recommended to remove the transmission and install a new or overhauled one on the car.
7. After checking the condition of the fluid and transmission, lower the car onto the wheels.
8. Check the fluid level and make appropriate adjustments if necessary (see chapter 1).
Attention: When filling the AT with oil and checking the ATF level, it is very important that the car is in a strictly horizontal position!
9. When the car is operated under normal conditions, ATF replacement is not required in principle. When operating in difficult conditions (see chapter 1) or for low-intensity use, such as using the car only for short trips or running the engine for a long time without driving the car, oil changes should be carried out in accordance with the maintenance schedule (see chapter 1). The design of the AT crankcase allows not all, but only about 4 liters of liquid to be drained when replacing - fill in the appropriate amount of fresh ATF (see chapter 1).
Note: When changing the oil, a new drain plug with a new seal must be installed.
