2. Remove the corresponding wheel.
3. On Corsa C models, use a screwdriver to remove the protective cap from the wheel hub - when removed, it is damaged and must be replaced without fail. Remove the hub nut locking pin.
4. The hub nut is tightened with a very large force. Before loosening/tightening the nut, it is recommended to put the wheels back in place and lower the car to the ground - ask an assistant to depress the foot brake pedal. If this operation is performed on a raised vehicle, to keep the hub from turning, it is necessary to fix a special lever on it with the help of wheel bolts (see resist. illustration).
2.4. Releasing the hub nut: 3. Special lever
Note: If necessary, the lever can be made independently.
5. Loosen the hub nut and remove it from the drive shaft trunnion (on the front wheels), if necessary, separate the auxiliary arm from the hub.
Note: On rear wheels, the hub nut is mounted on the axle of the hub assembly.
6. Installation is made in an order, the return to an order of removal. When installing, use only new hub nuts and washers. Initially tighten the nuts to 60 Nm, install the wheels and lower the vehicle. Further tightening of the nut is done in 4 steps. For the first approach, tighten the nut with a force of 120 Nm, then loosen the nut so that its further unscrewing can be continued manually. For the third approach, tighten the nut to 20 Nm, and then tighten it another 90°.
7. Secure the hub nut with a new cotter pin. If the cotter pin does not fit, loosen the nut back slightly so that the cotter pin hole aligns with the nearest slot on the hub nut ring. Insert the cotter pin and separate its ends with pliers. On Corsa C models, remember to install a new protective cap.
