When fitting swept rails, the specified direction of rotation must be observed. Pay attention to the markings on the tires with a certain mounting position: follow the designation of the outer / inner side on the side wall of the tire.
The centering of disc wheels on the wheel hub of the front axle is the installation on the central hole or on the wheel screws. To protect against deep corrosion, a small amount of bearing grease should be applied to the centering socket on the wheel hub each time it is installed.
The torque of the wheel screws is 110 Nm.
Note. Before installation «dry» screws, the conical surfaces are lubricated with rolling bearing grease.
The use of protective discs or brake dust discs for the Adam Opel AG disc brake is prohibited for safety reasons. When mounting these discs, it is impossible to achieve reliable fastening of the wheel. The transfer of disk imbalance to the wheel negatively affects the dynamic qualities. There is a danger of overheating of the brake system. If the car is equipped with such discs, you need to be aware of the existing risk.
The recommended tire pressure data for summer and winter tires is located on the inside of the filler hatch or on the middle left pillar of the body (the middle right pillar of the body in cars with right-hand drive), as well as in the instruction manual. When changing the size of tires, the appropriate label with information about the air pressure in the tires must be pasted on the inside of the filling hatch, the labels are available at service stations.
Snow chains may only be used on drive wheels (front axle). It should be borne in mind that only small chains can be used, which do not protrude more than 15 mm on the inside and on the tire tread (including chain lock).
When changing tires, make sure that only tire sizes approved by the vehicle manufacturer are fitted. The rules established by the law of the country in question must also be observed! They contain all mandatory characteristics and dimensions of the equipment, e.g. speedometer connection, wheel arch extension, rim size, etc.
Competent authority requirements should govern the combination of tire size and corresponding speedometer (number of revolutions per 1 m of track). The corresponding operating permit divides the tires into groups. It follows from this that only tires of the correct size can be installed on the vehicle, i.e. one group determined by the characteristics of the speedometer. It doesn't matter what speed markings they have (S, T or H) And are these tires winter or summer.
All tire sizes specified in the documents attached to the car can also be installed in winter modification (high traction tires, tires for driving on muddy and snowy roads), if no exceptions are provided.
Warning: If the maximum speed of the vehicle is higher than the maximum speed of winter tires, the permissible speed of tires for driving on muddy and snowy roads must be indicated by an icon in the driver's field of vision. It is recommended to install winter tires on all 4 wheels.
Winter tires (tires for driving on muddy and snowy roads) have a speed limit, the permissible maximum speed is determined by the marking of the tires used.
If the fitted wheel rims are not suitable for mounting winter tires, when using flat tire covers, make sure that the long tire valves are inserted. Also, the airflow slots of these caps must provide cooling of the brake system.
In order to compensate for the design conditional weight fluctuation on the tires of the car and on the wheel rims, the installed wheels must be balanced. Imbalance leads to a violation of the concentric rotation of the wheel and a violation of the steering, resulting in increased clamping of the wheel bearings, steering gear parts and tires. First, before installing the wheels on the car, balancing is performed on a stationary balancing machine. After installation on the vehicle, residual imbalance can be detected, which usually arises from unbalanced rotating parts of the vehicle (wheel hub, brake drum or brake disc). to compensate for this residual imbalance, the wheels can be balanced with a mobile balancing device (final balancer or fine balancing apparatus).
