Checking spark plugs

1. Make sure the correct spark plugs are used on the vehicle. The use of incorrect spark plugs can result in unstable engine operation.

2. Make sure the spark plugs are at the correct heat setting. The use of spark plugs with inappropriate thermal conditions can lead to the following consequences:

• dirty spark plugs - colder plugs;
• pre-ignition and/or engine damage - hotter plugs.

3. Visually inspect spark plugs for damage.

4. Run engine diagnostics on the condition of the spark plugs, as described in Chapter 2 of this manual.
