Attention: These instructions are only valid for contact ignition systems in 1.0-/1.3-l engines.
Pull the middle male out of the distributor cap and hold it approximately 10 mm from the ground. When cranking the engine with a starter, a spark should jump from the end of the cable.
If the spark does not jump, then use a voltmeter to check the voltage at terminal 15 of the ignition coil with the ignition on. This voltage should be 9 V.
If the voltage is higher than the specified value, then using a voltmeter or a simple test light, check at terminal 1 of the ignition coil whether there is no voltage on this terminal when the breaker contacts are closed and whether there is voltage on it when the contacts are open. closed contacts (crank the engine with the starter) can be opened with a screwdriver.
If, when the breaker contacts are open, the voltmeter needle does not move or the control lamp does not light up, the ignition coil should be replaced.
