Replacing the rear shock absorbers

Cars with a body «hatchback» And «sedan»

Warning. Due to the design features of the rear suspension, the shock absorbers can only be removed in turn.

Removing

Working in the luggage compartment, remove the protective cap of the upper end of the shock absorber.

Unscrew the hex nut from the shock absorber rod and remove the support cups and bushings.

Raise the rear of the car and place on stands. Loosen the nut on the shock absorber lower mounting bolt.

By pressing the mounting spatula on the suspension arm, remove the shock absorber from the socket.

Installation

Install the shock absorber. If it is difficult to insert the shock absorber bush into the suspension arm bracket, press it in with a plastic-headed hammer.

Align the shock absorber mounting tab with the hole on the suspension arm, insert the mounting bolt and tighten the nut.

Insert shock absorber with support cup and bushing into upper mounting socket.

Screw on the shock absorber rod nut and tighten it so that the size «A» rod protrusion was 8 mm.

Replace the protective cap.

Cars with a body «station wagon»

Removing

Raise the rear of the car and place on stands.

Using a hydraulic jack, slightly raise the suspension arm with a support made according to the dimensions shown in the figure.



Loosen the lower shock absorber mounting nut, remove the cups and bushings, and remove the lower end of the shock absorber from the suspension arm socket.


Loosen the shock absorber upper mounting nut. Remove shock absorber from vehicle.

Installation

Install shock absorber and tighten upper mounting nut.

Install the support cups and bushings, install the shock absorber on the suspension arm bracket.

Tighten the shock absorber rod nut to obtain the size «A» protrusion of the rod, equal to 8 mm.

Lower the car.

Cars with a body «van»

Raise the rear of the vehicle and place a hydraulic jack under the rear suspension beam.

Loosen the shock absorber lower end bolt, then the upper end bolt and remove the shock absorber.

The shock absorber is installed in the reverse order.
