2. On models with an armrest on the center console, open the cover, then carefully lever out the cassette box and remove the fixing screws.
3. On earlier models, use the lever to carefully remove the plastic cover on the outside of the center console (photo).
4. On manual transmission models, remove the shift lever guard, then remove the two mounting screws and remove the surrounding shift panel.
5. On models with automatic transmission, using a special screwdriver, carefully remove the gear indicator panel and slotted cover from the surrounding panel, and remove them from the gear lever. Remove the fixing screw, then remove the surrounding panel from the center console.
6. Using a lever, remove the middle cover from the outside of the console, then disconnect the electrical wiring (photo).
7. Remove the trim cover, then loosen and remove the six mounting screws (two in front, two in back and one on each side) (photo).
8. Pull the parking brake lever boot out of the center console, then remove the console from the shift lever and parking brake lever. Where necessary, disconnect the power window switch wires and remove the console from the vehicle (photo).
9. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order.
