The final drive mechanism is mounted on the rear suspension cross member. The rubber damping block attached to the rear of the final drive mechanism is at the same time a pillow for the rear suspension cross member. Two drive shafts transmit rotation from the final drive differential to the rear wheels, which are mounted on a fully independent rear suspension.
The limited slip differential can be fitted to new vehicles, or it can be fitted later in a rebuild, however this requires special tools and the existing crown wheel must be heated to a certain temperature before being bolted together. Because of this, the procedure is not described in this Section. The final drive differential overhaul procedure is also not described.
