Tailgate — removal and installation

Removing

Attention! To facilitate subsequent installation, it is recommended to tie twine to the wires and hoses, which will remain in the door cavity.

1. Disconnect the wire terminal «masses» (-) from the battery.

2. Remove the upper part 1 of the rear door upholstery by removing the plugs 2 with a small screwdriver (see illustration).



3. Remove the handle cover 4, bend the upholstery 6 and unscrew the bolts 3 (see illustration 15.2).

4. Disconnect the tailgate glass washer hose.

5. Disconnect the cleaner and burglar alarm connectors, as well as the central locking motor and rear window defroster.

6. Pull the wiring harness out of the door.

7. Support the open tailgate and disengage its gas struts (see illustration 15.8).

8. Remove the thrust rings, remove the fingers from the hinges and remove the rear door, acting together with an assistant (see illustration 15.8).

Installation

Installation of a back folding door is carried out in sequence, return to removal. When installing the door, clearances must be observed (see illustration 15.0).




If necessary, adjust the door by loosening the bolts securing the door hinges to the body.

Nominal clearances:

• p. 3 = 6.5±1 mm,
• n. 4 = 5±1 mm.

The tightening torque of the door hinge bolts is 20 Nm.
