Removing
1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands.
2. Remove the front wheel.
3. Loosen and remove the pinch bolt and pull the lower arm down to separate its ball joint from the steering knuckle.
4. Unscrew the front (vertical) and rear (horizontal) mounting bolts and remove the lower control arm from under the vehicle. Discard the bolts - they must be replaced. Note that the head of the horizontal bolt faces the rear of the vehicle, while the front bolt can be accessed from above through the rear cross member.
5. If the suspension ball joint needs to be replaced, refer to Chapter 5. Inspect the lever rubber bushings and, if necessary, replace them with a hydraulic press. Note the orientation of the bushings before removing them from the arm.
Installation
6. Attach the lever to the bottom and insert new mounting bolts. Insert the front bolt with the head toward the rear of the vehicle, and the rear (shorter) bolt on top.
7. While holding the lever in a horizontal position, tighten the fixing nuts and bolts with the tightening torque specified specifications.
8. Insert the ball joint into the steering knuckle and install the pinch bolt with the head toward the rear of the vehicle. Install a new nut and tighten it with the tightening torque specified specifications.
9. Connect the sheer rods to the anti-roll bar and tighten the nuts.
10. Install the front wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
11. When finished, have a professional check and, if necessary, adjust the front wheel alignment.
