Attention! You will need a torque wrench.
Removing
1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands. Remove the front wheel.
2. Press the dust cap off the hub, then install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground to loosen the hub nut.
3. Block the wheels, then use the socket and extension rod to loosen the hub nut about half a turn. Please note that this will require considerable effort.
4. Jack up the front of the vehicle again and place it on axle stands. Remove the wheel.
5. Remove the brake caliper and brake disc (see Section 9).
6. Remove the hub nut and pull the hub out of the steering knuckle (see illustrations). If the inner bearing race remains on the steering knuckle, remove it with a universal bearing puller and remove the oil seal.
Installation
7. Bearings cannot be replaced separately from the hub. If they are worn out or the oil seal is leaking, the hub must be replaced. The new hub has a plastic bushing that tightens the bearing inner races during installation.
8. Install the hub and plastic bushing onto the knuckle, then carefully slide the inner races into the knuckle using a suitable socket or metal pipe (see illustration). Remove bushing.
9. Install the components in the reverse order of removal paying attention to the following (see illustration):
- A) Tighten all nuts and bolts to the specified torque.
- b) Use a new hub nut.
- V) Install the brake disc and caliper as described in Section 9.
- G) Install a new hub dust cap.
