Removing
Attention! On vehicles with a 2.2 liter petrol engine, automatic transmission and trailer tow hitch, a transmission oil cooler has been installed since 10/1999, which is attached to the cooler with four bolts.
1. Disconnect the wire terminal «masses» from the battery.
2. Drain the coolant (see relevant chapter).
3. Remove the upper radiator shrouds by turning the side clips ¼ turn and unscrew the bolts under the shrouds.
Vehicles with a 2.5L diesel engine
4. Remove the upper protective cover of the engine and disconnect the charge air pipe (see relevant chapter).
5. Release from fastening 1 on the radiator the coolant hose leading to the expansion tank (see illustration).
6. Remove the radiator blower together with the viscous coupling.
7. Release the cooling hose from the holder on the radiator fan diffuser.
8. Release the radiator fan diffuser from the latches by turning it to the side and remove. putting up.
Vehicles with V6 engine
9. Remove the battery.
10. Remove the air pre-chamber.
11. Remove the secondary air shut-off valve near the radiator by loosening the air duct clamps and first marking the air ducts with paint or tape so as not to confuse them during installation. The mounting position of the valve must also be marked.
12. Cars about air-conditioned. Unscrew the two bolts securing the air conditioner heat exchanger to the radiator.
13. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses, as well as the hose connecting the expansion tank and the radiator, loosening the clamps of their fastening. On vehicles with a V6 engine and a 2.5 liter diesel engine, disconnect the two hoses and the auxiliary water pump power wire from the radiator.
14. Disconnect the power plug of the electric motor 1 of the radiator blower fan and the thermal switch, which is located on the side of the radiator (see illustration).
15. Cars with automatic transmission. Disconnect the two oil lines 1 for transmission oil cooling from the radiator and plug their openings to prevent contamination (see illustration).
16. Cars with air conditioning. Unscrew the bolts 1 securing the air conditioner condenser to the radiator (see illustration).
17. Remove the locking bracket 2, move the radiator up and remove it from the rubber cushions together with the fan (see illustration 4.16).
Installation
In case of replacement of the radiator, rearrange the fan and thermal switch from the old one to the new one.
18. Check up a condition of rubber pillows of a radiator and replace them if they are damaged or rubber cracked.
19. Install the heatsink with fan into the rubber pads, straighten it and secure with brackets.
20. Connect the power plug to the thermal switch and fan, as well as the cooling hoses and secure them with clamps.
21. Cars with automatic transmission. Remove the oil line plugs and connect the oil lines with new gaskets to the transmission oil cooler.
Tightening torque for oil lines 25 Nm.
22. Cars with air conditioning. Attach the air conditioner condenser to the cooling radiator.
Vehicles with V6 engine
23. Install the secondary air shut-off valve in the mounting location near the radiator. To do this, attach the valve to the holder, connect the air hose and secure it with a clamp.
24. Cars with air conditioning. Tighten the two bolts securing the air conditioner radiator to the cooling system radiator.
25. Install the battery.
26. Install the pre-air chamber.
Vehicles with a 2.5L diesel engine (X25DT)
27. Fix a hose of a broad tank in collars of fastening of a plait of wires.
28. Install the radiator fan diffuser and secure it in the clips.
29. Attach the coolant hose to the diffuser.
30. Installing a viscous fan.
31. Install the engine top cover and charge air line.
32. Connect wire terminal «masses» (-) to the battery, set the clock and enter the code into the radio.
33. Establish the top casing of a radiator and fix it.
34. Check and, if necessary, correct the concentration of the coolant and remove air from the cooling system.
