Removing
Cars with 4-cylinder engine
1. Remove the mounting screws, and remove the spark plug cap from the valve cover.
2. Check that the ignition is off, then disconnect the wiring and high voltage wires from the ignition module (see illustration).
3. Turn off bolts of fastening, and remove the module from a back part of a head of the block of cylinders.
Vehicles with a 6-cylinder engine
4. The ignition module is installed on the rear of the left cylinder head (see illustration). To improve access to the unit, remove the wiper motor (see related section). The control unit is very difficult to access and to further improve access, release the wiring connector holder from the mounting lug on the rear of the cylinder head and disconnect the pipes/hoses.
5. Turn off bolts of fastening, and separate the block of management from a head of the block of cylinders. On early models, the control unit is attached directly to the head (and on later models - on the bracket), the lower bolts are easier to reach from below if the vehicle is jacked up and supported securely.
6. Disconnect the electrical wiring and high voltage wires from the ignition module and remove the unit from the vehicle. Number the high voltage wire terminals according to the cylinder number so as not to confuse them during installation.
Installation
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, connect the high voltage wires correctly. Tighten the fastening bolts with a torque specified specifications and connect the wiring securely.
