2. Piston No. 1 is located in the right cylinder head near the toothed drive belt. Note that the crankshaft rotates clockwise when viewed from the front of the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Remove all spark plugs (see related section), to make it easier to turn the crankshaft.
4. Remove outer timing belt cover to access camshaft sprocket timing marks (see chapter 6).
5. Install the socket with the extension rod on the crankshaft sprocket bolt and rotate the shaft until the alignment marks on the camshaft sprockets align with the notches on the inner toothed belt cover. Each of the asterisks has two installation marks, you can select the one you need from them as follows (see illustrations and table).
6. Align the notch on the crankshaft pulley rim with the pointer on the oil pump housing (see illustration). Piston #1 is now at TDC on the compression stroke.
Attention! If the crankshaft pulley has been removed, use the mark on the rim of the crankshaft sprocket. The mark should align with the notch on the base of the oil pump housing (see chapter 7).
