2. With the help of an assistant, unscrew the hinges from the cover and remove the cover from the car.
3. The hinges themselves are usually not removable, but if you need to replace them, you will need to release and remove the counterbalance springs.
4. Disconnect them using a lever long enough to overcome the spring tension.
5. If the hinges are disconnected from the body, do not forget to install new spacers when installing them back to prevent water from getting inside the luggage compartment.
