Disconnect the cables from the glow plugs and temperature switch.
Unscrew the upper and lower gear shaft guards.
Unscrew the housing on the clutch housing.
Place the piston of cylinder 1 at TDC.
Unscrew the vacuum pump.
Lock the camshaft with the KM-537 key.
Attention! If the camshaft is replaced, there is no need to block it.
Loosen and remove the camshaft timing belt.
Remove the front exhaust pipe assembly.
Unscrew the camshaft wheel mounting bolts. To do this, hold the camshaft with a wrench by the flats between the intake and exhaust cams of cylinder 4.
Further operations are the same as for a gasoline engine.
Install the cylinder head gasket.
Attention! Depending on the protrusion of the piston in the upper position, gaskets of various thicknesses are used, in three sizes with and without marks 2.1, as shown in Fig. V4b72. Install only relevant ones.
Check the piston and valve for signs of impact with each other. Replace if necessary. If the marks are small, it is enough to install a thicker gasket; to do this, check the protrusion of the piston in the upper position with a micrometer. See table below.
