Breaker contacts — removal and installation

1. If the breaker contacts are burnt, pitted, or severely worn, they should be replaced.

2. Remove the distributor cover casing, cover, slider and plastic plate covering the breaker.

3. Remove the upper support plate of the rotor axis (see photos).





4. Remove the low voltage spade connector, remove the setscrew holding the breaker mechanism in place, and remove the breaker.

5. Remove the lever with the moving contact and the spring, and then the plate with the fixed contact.

6. For minor damage, you can treat the contact surfaces with sandpaper. However, if the contacts are burned or pitted, we strongly recommend replacing them. Before installing new contacts, wipe their surfaces with methylated alcohol.

7. Installation of contacts is carried out in reverse order.

8. Adjust the contact gap and the angle of their closed state, as indicated in section 3.
