Replacing the DIS ignition module (from the middle of 1995 release)
The module is located on the back of the engine near the front wall.
1. Disconnect the cable with the plug from the module.
2. Loosen the bolt and release the cable tie on the holder.
3. Remove the ignition module mounting bolt from the camshaft housing. The bolt also secures the engine lifting eye. Turn away from a head of cylinders the second bolt and take out the module of ignition upwards. Pay attention to how the block is installed. Its installation is shown in fig. Finally, disconnect the plug-in connection at the module and unscrew the four screws (next to cable connections), by removing the module from the holder.
4. The ignition module is installed in the reverse order of its removal. Bolts of fastening of the holder to the block of cylinders tighten the moment of 15 Nm. Pay attention to the method of connecting the ignition cables (illustrations). The ignition cables are numbered according to which they are connected to the ignition module.
Replacing the crankshaft TDC sensor
Location of the crankshaft TDC sensor
The pulse encoder is located in the location shown in fig. To remove it, the V-belt and vibration damper must be removed. The engine must be lifted by a hoist to allow one of the supports to be detached. Next, the following operations are performed:
1. Detach the cable casing from the toothed belt guard.
2. Check the routing of the sensor cable harness on the toothed belt rear cover and disconnect the cable.
3. Suspend the engine on a hoist and disconnect the engine mount from the appropriate side.
4. Disconnect the suspension clamp from the cylinder block and unscrew the sensor together with the sealing ring from the cylinder block.
5. Screw in the new sensor with O-ring and tighten it to 6 Nm.
6. Perform other installation work in the reverse order of removal. Fasten the engine mount clamp with a torque of 60 Nm, rubber support nuts with a torque of 40 Nm. Pay attention to the correct routing of the cable harness. While holding the crankshaft from turning, tighten the vibration damper bolts to 20 Nm.
Put on the V-belt as described in Chapter Cooling and heating systems.
Replacing the knock sensor
1. Place the front of the car on stands. Remove the bottom protective sheet (if it exists) under the car.
2. Disconnect the plug connection of the sensor (1) on illustration The illustration shows the position of the plug with the motor removed (near the starter).
3. Unscrew the knock sensor from the cylinder block.
4. Thoroughly clean the contact surface of the sensor. Screw the sensor into the cylinder block and tighten it to 20 Nm.
5. Other installation work is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
