Engine assembly is described in the relevant sections. When assembling the motor, the following general instructions must be observed.
1. Before assembly, check that the parts are free of dirt and foreign particles.
2. All moving parts should be lightly coated with lubricant. This must be done before assembly, and not after assembly, as in this case the oil may not get to the rubbing surfaces. It is especially important to generously lubricate the pistons, piston rings and cylinder walls with engine oil.
3. Thoroughly clean all parts of the cylinder block if the engine has been completely disassembled. When partially dismantling, make sure that foreign particles do not get into the non-removed parts of the engine or hollow spaces. Seal or cover all openings with rags.
4. It is best to blow out oil channels and holes with compressed air. If there is no compressed air, close the channels and openings with wooden plugs, never metal ones. Always replace O-rings and gaskets with new ones. In no case, to save money, do not use old sealing elements.
5. IN Specifications wear limit values for most moving parts are given. If there is any doubt about any part or its wear is close to the limit, it is better to immediately replace the part with a new one.
6. All spare parts must be purchased from Opel dealers. In this case, the engine number must be indicated. Since the design of the engine is constantly being changed, only an Opel representative can guarantee you the correct replacement part.
