Before removing the clutch in order to replace it, the following work must be carried out to determine the location of the damage.
1. Start the engine and let it idle.
2. Depress the clutch pedal and wait about 3 seconds.
3. Engage reverse. If noise is heard from the gearbox, this may indicate damage to the clutch or clutch to flywheel connection.
To check the clutch for slip, the following is done:
1. Drive the vehicle for some distance so that the gearbox and clutch are warmed up to operating temperature.
2. Stop the vehicle and apply the parking brake. Engage third gear.
3. Press the clutch pedal. Increase the engine speed to 3000-4000 rpm and suddenly release the pedal. If the engine stops immediately, the clutch is working properly.
