Removal
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the cover under the steering wheel (Fig. 7.7).

3. Remove the steering wheel airbag (Fig. 7.8).

4. Disconnect the airbag wiring connector and the horn wiring connector.
5. Unscrew the steering wheel mounting bolt and remove it.
6. Remove the instrument panel visor (Fig. 7.9).

7. Unscrew the two bolts A securing the steering column covers (Fig. 7.10).

8. Unlock the steering column height adjuster.
9. Remove the upper steering column cover, then the lower steering column cover, sliding the covers in the directions indicated by arrows 1 and 2 (Fig. 7.10).
10. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the contact coil (Fig. 7.11). Press the contact coil mounting pin to access bolt B and unscrew it. Then remove the contact coil assembly.

11. Disconnect and remove the receiver ring (Fig. 7.12).

12. Disconnect the ignition switch wiring connectors D (Fig. 7.13). Unscrew the two bolts E securing the steering column.

13. Remove the wiring harness fasteners.
14. Unscrew the two bolts F securing the intermediate steering shaft fork (Fig. 7.14).

15. Move the intermediate steering shaft fork down.
16. Lift the steering column to release the tab G (Fig. 7.15). Remove the steering column by first lifting it in the direction indicated by arrow H, then pulling it out in the direction indicated by arrow K.

Installation
17. Install the steering column onto the mounting lug, screw in the two steering column mounting bolts and tighten them. Install the intermediate steering shaft fork and tighten the two fork mounting bolts. Connect the ignition switch wiring connectors. Install new wiring harness fasteners. Install and connect the receiver ring, contact coil. Install the steering column switch covers, instrument panel visor, steering wheel.
18. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Caution! The splined portion of the steering wheel hub has mounting grooves to prevent incorrect connection (Fig. 7.16). The steering wheel should fit freely onto the splines of the steering column.
