Vehicles equipped with diesel engines with a high-pressure CDI injection system are provided with a pre-heating indicator light, two injection system indicator lights and a coolant temperature indicator light, which are installed on the instrument panel.
The pre-heating indicator light is presented in the form of an orange coil with the inscription «Diesel preheating» (Pre-heating).
The first level injection system fault indicator light is represented by an orange sinusoidal curve with the message «Injection fault» (Injection system malfunction).
The second level fuel injection system fault indicator light is represented by a red engine «Stop» (Stop) along with the message «Switch off engine» (Turn off the engine).
The coolant temperature indicator light is represented by a thermometer with a message «Coolant temperature» (Coolant temperature).
Reasons for the signal light to come on
The preheating indicator light comes on when the ignition is switched on and remains on during the preheating phase and then goes out. In the case of a level 1 fault, the instrument panel displays «Injection system malfunction». These may be the following problems:
- internal control unit failure;
- Malfunction of the automatic engine blocking device;
- engine crankshaft speed synchronization failure;
- accelerator potentiometer malfunction;
- air flow meter malfunction;
- vehicle speed sensor malfunction;
- EGR valve malfunction;
- Malfunction of the boost pressure control solenoid valve;
- main relay failure;
- ignition key malfunction;
- injector malfunction;
- injector correction fault (iMA);
- sensor power supply failure.
In case of a level 2 malfunction, the indicator light with the inscription lights up «Switch off engine» (Turn off the engine). In this case, the car should be stopped immediately. These may be the following faults:
- internal control unit failure;
- injector malfunction;
- malfunction of the fuel pressure sensor in the high-pressure accumulator;
- high pressure accumulator pressure regulator malfunction;
- Engine speed synchronization fault.
When the engine overheats, the coolant temperature warning light comes on.
