Removal
1. Disconnect the battery, starting with the negative cable.
2. Remove the air filter, engine cover, and charge air cooling radiator.
3. Remove the front license plate and radiator grille.
4. Unscrew the headlight mounting bolts (Fig. 4.75).
5. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the headlights.
6. Remove the headlights by detaching the clips (Fig. 4.76).
7. Remove the bumper (Fig. 4.77a, b).
8. Remove the power steering fluid reservoir from the bracket.
9. Remove the hood locking mechanism and its release cable.
10. Remove the front cross member and engine guard.
11. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the: fuel heater, support cylinder sensor, fuel temperature sensor and pressure regulator.
12. Move the wire harness to the side.
13. Disconnect the bracket between the air distributor and the power steering pump (Fig. 4.79).
14. Disconnect the pressure and drain pipes from the power steering pump.
15. Blow compressed air around the pressure regulator.
16. Clean the surface with brake cleaner.
17. Unscrew the three bolts securing the pressure regulator and remove it (Fig. 4.97).

18. Clean and wipe the contact surfaces of the fuel pressure regulator on the high pressure pump, being careful not to introduce contaminants. Flush the fuel pressure regulator housing by turning the ignition on several times, or by starting the low pressure pump using the diagnostic tool in the menu «Actuator commands» (making allowance for diesel fuel leakage).
Installation
19. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the three new mounting bolts to 3 Nm, then tighten them to 6 Nm.
