To perform the safety function, the protector must include (Fig. 4.98):

- two absorbent sound-insulating pads 1, which must be replaced if damaged or soaked with diesel fuel;
- lower aluminum casing 2, attached to the battery and cylinder head;
- diesel fuel drain pipe 3;
- plastic cover 4, installed on an aluminum casing;
- seal 5 to prevent leakage between the cover and the casing.
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery, starting with the negative cable.
2. Place the vehicle on a two-post lift.
3. To remove the protective cover, you must first remove the high pressure accumulator.
4. Disconnect the bracket between the air distributor and the power steering pump, remove the oil dipstick.
5. Disconnect the gasoline vapor recovery tube.
6. Unhook the protective casing cover and remove it.
7. Disconnect the fuel drain line, unscrew the two bolts securing the protective cover and remove it (Fig. 4.99).

Installation
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
