Removing
Engage any gear, tighten the parking brake. Loosen and loosen the castellated hub nut.
Attention! In this case, the car must be on the ground, otherwise it may fall!
Loosen the front wheel bolts.
Raise the front of the car.
Remove the front wheel, having previously marked its position relative to the hub.
Remove the ABS sensor from the bracket (if there).
Remove the brake caliper and hang it on a wire (see chapter "Brake system").
Attention! Do not disconnect the brake hose, otherwise bleeding from the brake system will then be required.
Loosen the nut on the steering knuckle. Press out the tip with a puller (e.g. Hazet 779) or devices Opel KM-507-B.
Pull the cotter pin out of the hinge support, unscrew the slotted nut, press the hinge out with a puller or Ore tool! KM-507-S.
Pull the pivot pin out of the hub by hand. If this is not possible, squeeze it out with a puller.
Support the front strut with a jack so that it does not fall when the top mount is released.
Loosen the strut mounting nut at the top with a 24 mm bent wrench while holding the stem with an internal toothed wrench, e.g. Hazet 990-Lg-12 (some options require Hazet 990Lg-10 key).
Lower the stand down.
Installation
Attention! If the rack has only been removed and not repaired, check the tightening torque before installing it (70 Nm) thrust bearing mountings.
Insert the strut from below, first put on the thrust washer from above, and then the fixing nut and tighten it to 55 Nm, while holding the shock absorber rod.
Vehicles with ABS: Tighten the ABS sensor with the bracket to 8 Nm. Attach the wire holder to the stand.
Lubricate the axle shaft splines with gear oil.
Insert axle shaft into hub.
Attention! Use a new washer and castle nut. Screw on the castle nut without tightening.
Insert the joint into the steering knuckle and tighten the slotted nut to 70 Nm. Insert a new cotter pin into the nut and bend it.
Fit the steering joint and tighten the new self-locking nut to 60 Nm.
Fasten the caliper mounting bolts to the strut with a torque of 95 Nm, having previously cleaned their threads and coated with Loctite 262 sealant.
In the GMF caliper: Push new protective caps onto the caliper bolts as far as they will go. The caps must fit evenly on the caliper.
Install the front wheel, observing the previously made markings.
Release the car.
Tighten wheel bolts crosswise to 90 Nm.
Tighten the hub nut to 130 Nm. Then loosen the nut and tighten to 20 Nm. In this position, tighten the nut an additional ¼ turn.
Insert a new cotter pin and bend; Loosen the slotted nut (not tighten) to the nearest hole.
