Attention! Even if both covers need to be replaced, only one hinge needs to be replaced.
Removing
Remove half shaft.
Cut off the clamp on the cover, remove the cover from the hinge and turn it inside out.
Unclip the retaining ring with pliers (see arrow in Fig. A8509) external or internal hinge.
Knock out the joint with a plastic hammer from the splined shank of the axle shaft.
Installation
Attention! Defective hinges must be replaced as a set.
Carefully remove the old grease from the hinge and fill the hinge cavity with a new special grease Opel ET N1941512 using a wooden spatula (900942176).
Install a new retaining ring. When doing this, pay attention to the correct fit of the ring in the groove.
Pull the protective cover of the hinge onto the axle shaft.
Observe the correct position of the internal hinge on the long side of the axle shaft; withstand size 1 (135 mm) for attaching the protective cover of the hinge.
Slide the new joint onto the axle shaft, install the retaining ring and fix it with a plastic hammer.
Install the hinge cover. Stick adhesive tape on sharp points first so as not to damage the case.
Pry up the edge of the cover with a screwdriver to let in air.
Fasten the clamp with pliers.
Attention! The cover should sit on the axle shaft without skew. To fasten the covers, you can use special metal rings that are put on with ordinary pliers. You can also use screw clamps.
Install the pivot shaft.
