1.8 and 2.0 liter engines
Removing
Disconnect wire "masses" from the battery.
Loosen the three bolts and remove the distributor.
Disconnect high voltage wires.
Remove the dust cap.
Unscrew the two screws securing the distributor slider.
Installation
Tighten the two screws securing the distributor slider.
Install the dust cap.
Connect the high voltage wires and secure the distributor cap.
Lubricate the mounting bolts with sealant before tightening, for example, Opel 1510177 (90167347).
Connect wire "masses" to the battery.
1.4 and 1.6 liter engines
Removing
Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the ignition position (before TDC).
Attention! The piston is in the ignition position when, with the distributor cap removed, the contact on the slider is opposite the cast arrow on the housing.
Loosen the clamping plate fixing nut.
Remove the ignition distributor with strap from the camshaft housing. Attention! Do not change piston position (do not turn the crankshaft when the distributor is removed).
Installation
Before installing the distributor, check the position of the piston in the 1st cylinder.
Set the distributor slider to the correct position. To do this, turn the slider so that its contact is opposite the cast arrow on the body.
Install the ignition distributor with the protrusions of the rotor in the grooves of the camshaft.
Attention! The projections and slots are located eccentrically and can only be combined in one position.
Tighten the clamp nut by hand.
If the distributor slider was removed, reinstall it.
Install and secure the distributor cap.
Adjust ignition timing (1.4L engine) or reinstall it (1.6L engines).
Tighten the clamp nut.
