Warning: The seat belt tensioner installed in the front seat can cause bruising if not used carefully. Before carrying out any work on the front seats, a tensioning fork must be inserted into the cylinder of the seat belt mechanism in order to prevent the possibility of tension caused by the mechanism, see points 7 and 8 below). Seats must always be moved and installed with the safety fork inserted. If the tensioner has been blocked due to a sudden collision or accident, then its block must be replaced. Due to safety reasons, the replacement of the tensioner must be entrusted to an Opel dealer.
Removing
1. Remove one machine screw from the front edge of the seat rail outer trim, remove the rear locking lug, and remove the trim to the rear.
2. Unfasten the trim from the rear edge of the inner seat rail.
3. Locate the plastic fork for the seat belt pretensioner, which is usually attached to the outside of the pretensioner spring cylinder.
4. Insert the fork into the opening at the rear of the spring cylinder, making sure the fork is securely seated (see illustration).
5. Remove the four bolts securing the seat rails to the floor, then remove the seat with rails (see illustration). Remove washers and base plates.
6. Seek advice from an Opel dealer if there is any doubt about the condition of the seat belt tensioner.
Installation
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Note that the manufacturers recommend using new bolts to secure the seat rails to the floor. Tighten the bolts with the specified torque specifications in order - rear inner, front inner, rear outer, front outer.
