Removing
1. Remove the toothed drive belt, sprockets and rear drive belt cover as shown in Chapter 11.
2. Remove the sump, oil pump pickup tube and sump deflector (where applicable), as described in Chapter 29.
3. On engines C16 NZ2, 1.8 and 2.0 liters, unscrew the oil filter from the mounting on the oil pump, if necessary, follow Section 1.
4. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the oil pressure sensor mounted on the oil pump.
5. Turn off bolts of fastening, take the oil pump from the block of cylinders. Remove the gasket.
6. The oil pump can be disassembled for inspection as described in Chapter 31.
Installation
7. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the oil pump and cylinder block, then place a new gasket on the block (see illustration).
8. Before installing the pump, the sealing lips of the stuffing box must be protected from damage. Lubricate the seal lips, then wrap tape around the end of the crankshaft to form a cone.
9. Install the oil pump. Check that the internal gear is correctly located on the hexagon on the crankshaft, tighten the fastening bolts with a tightening torque regulated specifications, then remove the tape from the end of the crankshaft (see illustrations).
10. Connect the wiring of the oil pressure sensor.
11. On C16 NZ2, 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines, install a new oil filter as described in Section 1.
12. Install the pan deflector (where applicable), oil pump pickup tube and sump as described in Chapter 29.
13. Install the rear drive belt cover, install and tension the belt as described in Chapter 11.
