Maintenance work
No welding seam can be so sealed that water cannot penetrate into it. Therefore, holes are made in all hollow profiles in the car for water to drain. If they are clogged with dirt or an anti-corrosion coating substance, then the penetrated water will no longer be able to flow out, but will contribute to the development of corrosion from the inside. Rigid longitudinal body mounts are particularly at risk.
Clean the holes regularly with a pipe cleaner.
In a car with a sliding roof, additionally check the roof drain holes.
