Identification signs of incorrect wheel alignment
If you want to detect incorrect steering geometry in motion, you must first make sure that both front tires are of the same grade, have the same profile depth and the same prescribed air pressure.
Are the steering wheel spokes symmetrical when driving in a straight line? A tilted steering wheel is often a sign of improper wheel alignment.
Restless movement in a straight line; this is especially easy to see when driving on a smooth snowy or icy road. Excessively wide tires can also impair straight-line performance despite proper wheel alignment.
Pulls the Vectra to the side on a perfectly flat road and with the steering wheel released?
Does the steering go straight after the turn?
Look at the front wheels from a distance of five to ten meters: are they straight and symmetrical to each other?
Tire profile worn on one side? When driving hard, it is not uncommon for the outer edges of both front tires to show more wear than the inner ones.
Dimpled rims indicate hard contact with the curb, causing the suspension strut/suspension geometry of the front wheels to deviate easily from the correct angle.
Other reasons for improper wheel alignment could be worn pivots or rubber mounts, or unprofessional repairs after an accident.
