Vectra is equipped with a vehicle departure lock. This is an electronic anti-theft device that is activated after the ignition is turned on. The basis of the system is the so-called on-board transponder. This is a battery-powered transceiver module in the ignition lock that stores a hard code associated with the vehicle in a memory device. This code is stored in the memory of the additionally installed vehicle departure lock control unit. If the code matches, the control unit for blocking the departure of the car checks the code of the engine control unit in the next step. This is a variable code that is re-selected by a random number generator in the engine control unit after each engine start and stored in the vehicle departure lock control unit. If there is no match between the codes in the engine control unit and in the vehicle departure blocking control unit, then the engine will turn off within 2 seconds. turns off.

The vehicle immobilizer system can be diagnosed with a malfunction reader. Therefore, troubleshooting and adaptation of the new engine control unit to the vehicle is only possible in an Opel workshop.

Tip: disconnecting and connecting the battery does not affect the blocking the departure of the car. After that, the departure lock mode is set to the one that existed before the battery was disconnected.
