Be careful if a radio with a security code is installed. Make sure you have the security code so that you can activate the radio again after installation.
If the battery is disconnected, the ignition and radio with security code must be turned off.
Loosen the nut on the negative wire terminal, remove the terminal from the battery pole.
Loosen the positive wire terminal and remove.
Unscrew the bolt fixing the strap at the base of the battery, remove the bolt and the strap.
Remove the battery.
When installing, connect the positive wire first, then the negative terminal.
You can rearrange the wire terminals by mistake only if you apply a lot of force, because. the head of the plus pole is thicker than the head of the minus one.
If you have a radio with a security code, set the code number again.
Dismantling the monoblock battery
The Vectra is equipped with a removable battery pack. With appropriate installation work, the battery monobloc must be dismantled to facilitate work and often save time associated with this.
Remove the battery.
Unscrew the 6 fixing bolts located under it.
Remove the fasteners on the battery support from the clips.
Remove the battery pack from the engine compartment.
When mounting, clamp the fasteners on the battery support.
Caring for battery contacts
Wash the contaminated battery case with cold detergent, water and a stiff brush.
Wash off the oxide crystals on the battery terminals with warm alkaline water or treat with «Neutralon» by Varta.
Be careful not to allow water, dirt or cleaning agent to enter the battery fluid through the vent holes in the plug.
Check if the ventilation holes in the plug are clogged; if clogged, clean it.
Lubricate the battery terminal heads and wire terminals with an acid preventative (Bosch «Ft 40 v 1»).
The sides of the pole heads and the inside of the terminals must not be lubricated, otherwise contact difficulties may occur.
