Auxiliary cable for engine start
Position the support vehicle next to the Vectra so that the batteries are as close together as possible. But the cars must not touch.
Connect the positive poles of both batteries with the first wire.
Connect the other auxiliary wire to start the engine first to the negative pole of a charged foreign battery, and then to an uninsulated mass (e.g. directly to the engine) in the engine compartment of a de-energized vehicle.
Run the helper vehicle's engine at high speed so that the alternator can provide high voltage.
If the engine does not start immediately, allow the starter to cool slightly. Leave the auxiliary motor running, which will allow the battery to recharge slightly.
When disconnecting the auxiliary wire to start the engine, first remove the wires from the negative terminal of a charged foreign battery.
