- a) Making repeated unsuccessful attempts to start the engine, or leaving the lighting devices on for a long time with the engine turned off;
- b) Violation of the serviceability of the functioning of the charge system (the alternator drive belt is loose or broken, the connecting wiring is damaged, or the alternator itself is faulty).
- c) Malfunction of the battery itself (the electrolyte level has dropped or the battery has expired).
Only the battery of another vehicle can be used as an auxiliary power source.
Attention! Only 12-volt batteries may be used to start the engine!
When starting the engine from an external power source, attention should be paid to observing some special precautions:
- a) Make sure that the cars NEVER come into contact with each other;
- b) C. both batteries remove the covers (with appropriate performance) and cover the ventilation openings with rags, - do not allow smoking or the use of open flames near batteries;
- c) Before connecting the auxiliary battery, make sure that the ignition on both vehicles is off;
- d) Make sure that all consumers of electricity (lighting and heating devices, windshield wipers, etc.) were also turned off;
- e) Only use starter wires of sufficient cross section (not less than 16 mm2 for petrol models, for diesel engines - 25 mm2) with insulated terminal clamps;
13. The procedure for connecting connecting wires when starting the engine from an auxiliary power source (wires are disconnected in reverse order), - note that on an emergency vehicle, the negative wire is connected not to the battery terminal, but to the mass of the power unit
- f) Put on protective gloves and goggles, make sure that the electrolyte does not get on the skin, clothes or paintwork;
- d) The terminals must be connected strictly in a certain order (see illustration 13);
Attention: Do not connect the cable to the negative pole of a discharged battery! connection point «masses» should be kept as far away from the battery as possible!
- h) Make sure the jump leads do not come into contact with moving components (fan impeller, drive belts, etc.) in the engine compartments of both vehicles;
- i) Make sure the transmission is in neutral (RKPP), or transferred to the position «R» (AT);
- j) Start the engine of the battery-starting vehicle and let it run for a few minutes, then set the engine speed to a constant speed of about 2000 per minute.
Follow the standard engine start procedure. Leave the engine running at idle for approximately 3 minutes. Turn on the headlights, rear defroster and heater fan, then disconnect the wires in the reverse order of their connection.
Note: Auxiliary power consumers are switched on to prevent power surges at the time of disconnection of the wiring. At the end of the procedure, turn off unnecessary electrical consumers.
Attention! Do not allow the positive charge terminals to come into contact with the negative charge terminals or the vehicle body!
