9. A lifting device is required to carry out the work (hoist) with appropriate devices for lifting the engine, or a universal or specialized set of tools from Opel for holding the engine on the front subframe of the car during removal / replacement of the support. When removing the belt/chain on some engines, it may be necessary to raise/lower the engine slightly to remove the mounting bolts from the mounting sockets. In this case, to hang the power unit, it is necessary to use only a lifting device that allows you to change the position of the engine after removing the support. In some cases, a jack can be used to support the engine by placing a suitable size block of wood between the jack head and the engine. All work with the removal of engine mounts is recommended to be carried out at an Opel workshop.
10. The procedure for installing/removing the universal tool using the Z18XE engine as an example is described below.
Note: Some motors may require special adapters
11. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery (see chapter 5), remove the engine cover (see section 2) and air cleaner (see chapter 4).
12. Jack up and place the car on stands or raise it on a lift. Remove the multi-ribbed belt cover or crankcase guard (see above). Release the 2 power steering hydraulic lines that run along the front suspension subframe from the holders.
5.13 Installing the tool OpelKM-6313 (1) on the stretcher
13. Install fixture OpelKM-6313 (see illustration) first on the left side of the subframe (I), and then to the right (II). The guide pins of the tool must fit into the holes in the subframe. Tighten the mounting bolts.
14. Install and secure 3 supports (see illustration) adaptations: A - from the side of the gearbox, B - from the side of the right support. Adjust the height of the supports by twisting them up until they rest against the engine block - the device should be firmly fixed, without play, on the subframe.
5.14 Installing the supports of the Ore1-KM-6313 fixture (on the example of the Z18XE engine)
15. Lower the car, turn out the fixing bolts (see illustrations) and remove the engine mount. If necessary, remove the mounting bracket from the engine block.
Note: The general appearance and mounting of the supports on different models may differ slightly from those shown in the illustrations.-
5.15a Right support (1) engines Z16XE/Z18XE: 2. Bolts of fastening of a support to a spar; 3, 4. Bolts and nut for fastening the support to the bracket
5.15b Right engine mount Z32SE: 1. Bolts for fastening the support to the bracket; 2, 3. Bolts for fastening the support to the side member
16. Dismantling of the device is carried out in the reverse order.
