Warning! Springs must be replaced in pairs, even if one is defective. Springs differ in stiffness and are marked with paint depending on the stiffness class. Both sides of the car should have springs of the same stiffness.
To complete the work you will need:
- viewing ditch or overpass;
- car stand;
- jack.
Execution sequence
1. We prepare the car for work and hang the rear of the car on stands (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the wheel (see «Wheel - replacement»).
3. We install the jack under the corresponding lever and jack it up a little.
4. We turn out a bolt of the bottom fastening of the shock-absorber (see «Rear suspension shock absorbers - check and replace»).
Warning! When performing the following operation, do not allow excessive tension on the brake hose, remove it if necessary (see «Brake hoses - replacement»).
5. We remove the jack from under the lever and press the beam lever down with a large crowbar, after which we remove the spring.
6. Remove the rubber spacers from the spring. The upper spacer is made integral with the bump stop.
7. If spacers are badly worn, damaged or hardened, replace them.
8. Install the parts in reverse order.
9. Similarly, we replace the second spring.
